Overpass Books Open Mic Social

Overpass Books and Teatro Paraguas invites poets and short story authors to an open mic/social gathering on October 2nd at 5 p.m.

Poet and publisher, John Casquarelli, will introduce Overpass Books and Otter Magazine to the Santa Fe literary community, and will explain how writers can submit their work to the press. Some of the authors published by Overpass Books, either in full-length or chapbooks, include Anne Waldman, Anselm Berrigan, Uche Nduka, Patricia Spears Jones, Helen Mitsios, and Steve Dalachinsky. Otter Magazine has featured work by Wang Ping, Willie Perdomo, Lewis Warsh, Juan Morales, Barbara Henning, John High, and many other gifted writers and artists.

John Casquarelli is the author of two full-length collections: On Equilibrium of Song and Lavender. He received his MFA in Creative Writing at Long Island University Brooklyn. John was awarded the 2010 Esther Hyneman Award for Poetry, 2016 Kafka Residency Prize in Hostka, Czech Republic, and a 2017 residency at the Writer’s Room of The Betsy Hotel on South Beach. He is a member of the literary and art community, Unbearables. His work has appeared in numerous anthologies and journals including Teaching as a Human Experience (Cambridge Scholars Publishing), Pilgrimage Magazine, Suisun Valley Review, Visceral Brooklyn, The Lonely Crowd, Expound Magazine, RaedLeaf Foundation for Poetry and Allied Arts, and Flatbush Review.
