PlayReading with Playwrights 2027
Call For Scripts!

Do you have a script in your closet? Do you know someone who does?

TLC invites you to submit a scene or short play to our fourth annual PlayReading with Playwrights event on February 27, 2027. Once again, we will showcase the work of our local playwrights in a small audience setting. Refreshments will be served during the break - it's a great opportunity to meet Santa Fe theater-goers!

  • PlayReading with Playwrights is scheduled for Tuesday evening, February 23, 2027.  We will be inviting Santa Fe theater lovers to attend, gather in small groups, and read your scene or short play as a table read. The idea is to highlight our local playwrights and allow our audiences to take part in the page-to-stage process.

    • You may submit new, old, or in-progress scripts of scenes or complete plays no more than twenty minutes in length or 12-15 pages.

    • You will be assigned readers that night whom you will cast on the spot, then guide through the scene.  We are looking for scripts that can be read by two to five readers. If your script has more than five characters, but can be covered by five readers doubling up on roles, we can make it work. In your submittal, tell us the number of readers that you will need (max 5).

    • Please submit your script no later than December 31, 2026 to PlayReading.with.Playwrights@gmail.com. Acceptance letters will be sent out by email no later than January 10, 2027. If selected, you will need to bring enough copies of the script to the event for each reader.

    • The event will last approximately 2 hours. You must be present to direct your reading and stay for the entire event. Play readers will be assigned at random to each playwright at the event.

We hope this sounds like an engaging event to show off your work and have some fun and feedback.
