As part of the Cocktails & Culture Festival, “Santa Fe’s Most Spirited Culinary Festival,” please join us for the opening act for the Chef & Shaker Challenge. For the first time ever in New Mexico, James Beard Award winner, legendary mixologist, author, and industry mentor Dale DeGroff shares stories and songs from legendary watering holes and his forty years behind the bar.
In the stunning theater at Scottish Rite Temple, DeGroff explores bar life in America, from colonial times through Prohibition and into the present day, revealing the colorful history of the cocktail and the antics that drove this amazing phenomenon. Masterful story-telling, crafted cocktails from by-gone eras, and tunes from the Great American Songbook make for an unforgettable show! www.kingcocktail.com/onthetown.htm
When the show is over, the doors to the majestic ballroom swing open to the Chef & Shaker Challenge featuring some of our most famous local chefs pairing cocktails with their own spirited dishes, live music, and one of the most smashing parties of the year. Guests pick the winning combination for the Popular Vote, and a panel of celebrity judges will choose their winner. The Cocktails & Culture Festival awards $500 to each winning chef’s favorite local charity. Twenty percent of ticket sales goes to Cooking With Kids!
Also, Jill DeGroff is once again donating an original painting of a Santa Fe scene to be live-auctioned at the event. One hundred percent of the auction proceeds go to the Helen David Relief Fund supporting bartenders battling breast cancer. (Last year, her painting raised $2000 for this great cause!)
Film, music, and art are featured throughout the Cocktails & Culture Festival weekend.
