THE THEATRE LOVERS CLUB PRESENTS

Theater Lovers Club is tremendously excited to host playwrights Leslie Dillen and Dale Dunn for our November TLC talk.  Leslie and Dale will be joined by directors Kent Kirkpatrick and Lynn Goodwin for a discussion of their upcoming one-act plays, FORCES OF NATURE. The plays will be presented at The Lab Theater, December 2-19, 2021 and are produced by Just Say It Theater.

Both Leslie and Dale are local playwrights who have garnered national and international awards.  They have had their plays included as semi-finalists in the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights Conference, and produced at the Edinburgh Festival and the Samuel French Festival of One Act Plays, among others.  In Santa Fe, Dale Dunn’s most recent play was The Big Heartless and local audiences were treated to Leslie Dillen’s Two Wives in India at the Santa Fe Playhouse.

Avalanche!, by Leslie Dillen and directed by Kent Kirkpatrick, confronts us with a woman, a former ski champion, trapped during an avalanche in an air pocket of snow with only ten minutes to live. She is not alone. A Presence – manipulative and seductive – forces her to confront her buried past. Will their struggle give the skier the courage and faith to survive?

Sworn to Water, by Dale Dunn and co-directed by Dunn and Lynn Goodwin, explores the life and poetry of an unsung, but brilliant American poet Lorine Niedecker who created a luminous body of work while living in rural isolation. This play  brings Niedecker’s world to life, and with the artful use of video and sound design, evokes a story full of desire, humor, frustration, and hope.
