Institute of American Indian Arts presents

Sneaky: An Evening of plays by William S. Yellow Robe and IAIA Students

Join IAIA Performing Arts students on May 6th and May 7th at 6pm for an evening of Performances dedicated to Assiniboine playwright William Yellow Robe in our black-box Theater space.

The evening kicks off with Yellow Robe's play Sneaky, performed by IAIA students and continues with a series of scenes and short plays by both Yellow Robe and IAIA students. Bill Yellow Robe has contributed immeasurably to the Theatre with over 45 plays that document the Native experience with keen observation, evocative language, and a deep sensitivity. His loss last year is profoundly sad for the entire Theatre world. He was also an educator who taught playwriting at IAIA (and elsewhere).

Navajo Playwright and former student Rhianna Yazzie writes that “Bill’s plays were for Native people, period. But the honesty, the craft and artistry he channelled into his plays from his life’s broken hearts, hard-fought wins and unexpected joy-that was for everyone.”

Join us in celebrating his work and the profound artistry of IAIA's Performing Arts students.
