Blue Raven Theatre and Talia Pura present
La Femme Shakespeare
Who actually wrote the Shakespearean canon? Could it really have been a young man from the countryside with only a grammar school education, no court experience or knowledge of foreign languages? Or might it have been a highly educated noblewoman from the court of Elizabeth I? Come and enjoy the words ’Shakespeare’ wrote for women through this lens.
All donations for the evening will go to the Afghan family that Blue Raven supports. Before the Taliban took over the country again, Arifa was a radio announcer. Her husband was a soldier in the Afghan army. Since the fall of the Afghan government, they’ve both had to be very careful to escape the Taliban’s notice. They have three young girls, facing an unimaginable future. However, we were able to get them out of Afghanistan last month. They are now in Pakistan, where the girls are in school for the first time. Arifa and her husband are studying English. Our next goal is to raise enough money to help them realize their dream of coming to North America.
For a charitable donation receipt, checks may be made out to Teatro Paraguas, our fiscal sponsor.
