Theatre Lovers:

      Do you have a script in your closet?

      Do you know someone who does?

If so, TLC invites you (or your friend with a script) to submit a scene or short play to our second PlayReading with Playwrights event this year. We did this back in February and it was so popular that we are going to do it again in September. Once again, we will showcase the work of our local playwrights in a small audience setting.

PlayReading with Playwrights is scheduled for Tuesday evening, September 10, 2024.  We will be inviting the Theatre Santa Fe/Theatre Lovers Club communities to attend, gather in small groups, and read your scene or play as a table read. The idea is to highlight our local playwrights and allow our audiences to take part in the page-to-stage process.

You may submit new, old, or in-progress scripts of scenes or complete plays up to twenty minutes in length.

You will have your own readers that night whom you will cast on the spot, then guide through the scene.  We are looking for scripts that can be read by two to five readers. If your script has more than five characters, but can be covered by five readers doubling up on roles, we can make it work. In your submittal, tell us the number of readers that you will need (max 5). If you need an additional reader to narrate, tell us that as well (you may wish to narrate your own play.)

Please submit your script no later than August 20, 2024 to Theatre.Lovers.Club@gmail.com. Scripts will be selected in a random process. If selected, you will need to bring enough copies of the script to the event for each reader.

If yours was one of the scripts submitted in February that we were unable schedule, please let us know if you are available to participate in September and if you would like to use the script already submitted.

You must be present on September 10 to direct your reading.  Play readers will be assigned at random to each playwright at the event.
