Santa Fe Classic Theater was founded in 2015 as a non-profit, tax-exempt theater company.

In June 2019, Santa Fe Classic Theater produced Romeo and Juliet, directed by Patrick Briggs, at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden for 2019's Shakespeare in the Garden. Romeo and Juliet was dedicated in memoriam to founding member Michael Graves (pictured below), whose enthusiasm and decades of professional Shakespearean performance helped propel SFCT into being.
