THEATERWORK

THEATERWORK is a year-round alternative company with deep roots in the international theater community since its founding in Bogota, Colombia in 1965.

Since establishing the Company in Santa Fe two decades ago, it has produced one hundred and ten plays—including great classics, new works by living playwrights, staged readings of new work, poetry events, and staged projects based on stories and images collected from within communities and groups (the Deaf Community, Bataan Veterans, Grandmothers of the Guadalupe Parish . . .).

While building its artistic work on the contributions of a permanent company of theater specialists and performers, THEATERWORK also brings others into the creative process through special arrangements, internships, and auditions.

THEATERWORK is the artistic home to many extraordinary theater makers—a place of stories, discovery, and dialogue. In addition to its performance work it conducts story-gathering projects, school residencies, town celebrations and history plays, special residencies with community theater groups, and workshops for parents on ways to bring the art of theater into family life.

THEATERWORK strives to be a lively theater in the heart of its community. From its very inception it has carried as its guiding motto:

“No stories left untold / no lives left uncelebrated!”
