La Femme Shakespeare
By Talia Pura
Who actually wrote the Shakespearean Canon? Could it really have been a young man from the countryside with only a grammar school education? Or might it have been a highly educated noblewoman from the court of Elizabeth I?
This one-woman play, written and performed by Talia Pura, explores the life of Mary Sidney. Talia plays Mary, explaining the facts of her life: her feelings, attitudes, loves and losses. She helps the audience understand how it was that she came to write the entire ’Shakespearean’ canon, including the sonnets.
Join us following the talkback for a social gathering (Dutch treat) at Piccolino Italian Resturant (2890 Agua Fria St, Santa Fe -- corner of Agua Fria and Siler).
You must purchase your own ticket to the performance ($20 recommended donation). You may pay at the door or purchase your ticket in advance at https://www.teatroparaguasnm.org/.
