Archeologists tell us storytelling is our oldest art form. They have hypothesized that cave dwellings were manipulated by firelight to enhance the stories, making the drawings move, creating surprise and emotion.
These days in this country, we’ve come to define theatre by the written script but there is much more to it … movement, imagery, sculpture, architecture, music, all of the art forms. Maybe that’s what makes the making of great theater so challenging.
Theater Grottesco has embraced this challenge since it was founded in Paris in 1893. The Art of Silence, with ensemble members Danielle Reddick, Koppany Pusztai and John Flax, offers a behind the scenes look into their imaginative, poetic theater.
