Discover an Overlooked Chapter of Theater History
Join us in April as Cathleen Rooney leads us on an exploration of a fascinating and often overlooked part of Theater History: the rich legacy of Deaf Theater. Its roots stretch back to the 1800s, and here in the United States, Abraham Lincoln played a significant role in its development.

Cathleen Rooney, MA, NIC, NAD 4, spent 40 years in vocational and rehabilitation counseling for Deaf individuals, developing programs in areas such as alternatives to incarceration for Deaf inmates, as well as addiction and vocational rehabilitation. Over that time, she became an active participant in the Deaf community and followed and enjoyed Deaf theater. She also served as a community ASL interpreter and advocated for legislation advancing equal access, bringing together her professional expertise and community involvement.

This promises to be a unique and enlightening presentation — we hope you’ll join us.
