TWO Lummux Press Poetry Readings

RD Armstrong.jpg

TWO EVENTS TODAY!

4 p.m. • RD Armstrong, an accomplished Los Angeles poet who founded Lummox Press in 1998, reads from his new book of poetry, Orphaned Words—Forgotten Poems from a Haphazard Life.

6 p.m. • Ten Santa Fe poets read original poems published in Lummox 6 Poetry Anthology.  The poets include Blair Cooper, Vijali Hamilton, Kyle Laws, Jane Lipman, Cynthia Lucas, Argos MacCallum, John Macker, Mary McGinnis, Georgia Santa Maria, Pamela Williams.

Internationally recognized publisher & poet RD Armstrong has been writing for more than twenty years. Specializing in mostly poetry, he also has written prose, essays, articles, reviews, and interviews, many of which are showcased in his numerous projects published by his Lummox Press. In the Lummox Journal (1995–2006), RD wrote a lead essay for each issue, conducted interviews with more than 100 poets, writers, musicians, artists, and even a dancer, over the course of its eleven-year existence. He has also edited the annual Poetry Anthology, Lummox, for the past seven years. RD has self-published (in the proud tradition of Walt Whitman) six full-sized collections, as well as eleven chapbooks, and was published in two full-sized books and two chapbooks published by other presses. In addition to that, he has been published in more than 300 magazines. journals, and online sites. This last number would be higher if he hadn’t spent so much of his time running the Lummox Press and helping hundreds of poets.

RD’s books include Fire and Rain (two volumes); On/Off The Beaten Path; El Pagano and Other Twisted Tales; E/OR Living Among the Mangled; Tracking the Rabbit; Last Call: The Bukowski Legacy Continues; and Working the Wreckage of the American Poem.
