Jules’ Poetry Playhouse and Teatro Paraguas present a poetry reading with George Wallace and John Macker.
George Wallace is writer-in-residence at the Walt Whitman Birthplace in New York, writing professor at Pace University in Manhattan, and winner of the Orpheus Prize (BG), Naim Frasheri Prize (MK), CSAO Award (IT), and Alexander Gold Medal in Greece. Suffolk County Long Island’s first poet laureate, he is editor of Poetrybay, co-editor of Great Weather for Media in New York City, and author of 33 chapbooks of poetry, including A Simple Blues with a Few Intangibles, which was chosen as a Top Ten summer poetry reading choice by the Huffington Post in 2017.
Award-winning poet/short-story writer/essayist John Macker lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His latest book is Blood in the Mix (with El Paso poet Lawrence Welsh), published by Lummox Press in 2015. Other books include Disassembled Badlands, Woman of the Disturbed Earth, Wyoming Arcane (Mad Blood magazine #5), Underground Sky, Adventures in the Gun Trade , Las Montañas de Santa Fe, and The Royal Road: Impressions of El Camino Real.
