THE THEATRE LOVERS CLUB PRESENTS
Brenda Lynn Bynum, Artistic Director of The Oasis Theatre Company, will discuss her approach to Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale. Taking this classic play of love, jealousy, separation, and redemption, and setting it in a modern context, gives us the opportunity to view the universal themes and timeliness of Shakespeare’s “Old Tale.” The production updates the play to 1955 in Chicago’s Little Sicily and then moves 16 years (as per Shakespeare) to Bohemia with a vibrant 1970’s hippie energy as the backdrop. And you are going to “love” the music! There is something for everyone in this play . . . including a bear!
Performances run January 31 - February 17: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @ 7:30 p.m. and Sundays @ 3:00 p.m. at The Oasis Theatre, 3205 Calle Marie, Suite A (next door to Teatro Paraguas).
Doors open at 5:30 pm for light refreshments and conversation before the talk.
