THE THEATRE LOVERS CLUB PRESENTS

Most of us know a bit about the “page-to-stage” creative process in theatre. But collaboratively created works, not evolving from a script? How does that happen? Santa Fe offers a variety of very different approaches to this exciting creative form. The goal of the evening is to introduce, describe, and demonstrate a few examples, to help us become more appreciative audiences, or perhaps even participants!

Theater Grottesco creates plays that are celebrated nationally for their rigorous physicality and surprise, challenging theatrical norms. The plays are created collaboratively by a highly skilled ensemble. What is seen on stage is as powerful, or more powerful than the words spoken. Rather than a starting point, text is the final piece of the creation.

Santa Fe Improv: Improvisation is both collaborative and a deeply personal practice. It gifts us with skills to release self-editing tendencies, supporting creativity, personal truth, and fun! Likewise, it demands a focus on teamwork and a particular close listening that only happens when we are truly present for each other, collaboration building community.

Quinn Fontaine Studio with its motto, Play Together Planet, is a place of love, laughter, peace and healing, where people from 7-87 work together inspired by the mantra, BE Your Authentic Self.  Magic happens when we allow ourselves to take up space without apology, know that it’s both safe to see and be seen, and then create collaboratively from that space.

Stage Santa Fe offers opportunities for everyone from experienced improvisors to novices. Their methodology is based upon listening carefully to what is happening in the moment and working together to heighten shared discovery, skills which help us become more empathic and creatively courageous as we collaborate with our fellow human beings both on-stage and off.

RSVP’s are required so we can ensure everyone will be seated.

Doors open at 5:30 pm for light refreshments and conversation before the talk. At 5:55, unclaimed reserved seats will be released to people on the waiting list.
