Santa Fe Playhouse presents
Santa Fe Fiesta Melodrama
The Santa Fe Fiesta Melodrama has a century-long history of poking fun and pushing buttons, speaking truth to power, and oh-so-gentle ribbing of local officials, politicians, the wealthy, the media, and anyone else who has made news in the last year. First performed as part of Santa Fe’s first Fiesta in 1922, it’s sometimes seen as the artsy Anglo contribution to the annual celebration. But is it more than that? Less than that? And what of past Melodramas that have punched down and across instead of up? Is this justice? And is it funny? Join us to cheer the hero and boo the villain, or boo the hero and cheer the villain, depending on your particular disposition.
